Monica D. Pacheco



Monica D. Pacheco graduated from the Willamette University College of Law in 2006, when she joined the firm of Douglas, Conroyd and Gibb.  Ms. Pacheco's practice concentrates on estate planning and elder law, particularly as it relates to Medicaid and disability planning, including the following:

 

Ø     Preservation/transfer of assets seeking to avoid spousal impoverishment when a spouse enters a nursing home Medicaid

Ø     Disability planning, including use of durable powers of attorney, living trusts, "living wills," for financial management and health care decisions, and other means of delegating management and decision-making to another in case of incompetency or incapacity.

Ø     Conservatorships and guardianships

Ø     Estate planning, including planning for the management of one's estate during life and its disposition on death through the use of trusts, wills and other planning documents

Ø     Probate

Ø     Administration and management of trusts and estates

Ø     VA Aid and Attendance Benefits for veterans and their spouses requiring long term care

 

Ms. Pacheco speaks regularly on the issues of Medicaid planning, VA Aid and Attendance pension, and elder issues to forums in the community. 

 

Ms. Pacheco has received her accreditation with the Veterans Administration, allowing her to represent veterans and their families in obtaining Aid and Attendance Benefits for Veterans or their surviving spouses.  Ms. Pacheco is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and a Board Member of The Alzheimer’s Network, as well as the Co-Chair of the Fund Development Committee for The Alzheimer’s Network.
